probably easier for me as i work in a pub and there is a small staff, but my boss and i go shopping and we babtsit for each other if needed. I have been to the pub tonight as it was quiet to keep her company.

Yes, I'm actually a manager and are mates with a few of my staff. This is because we were at the same level before I became a manager, and in my opinion, friendship should not have to change. Of course you have to be professional in a working environment, but neither friend should take advantage of each other's status, otherwise it will appear as favouritism and liberty taking. Outside the workplace and during lunchtimes, you should be able to do whatever you feel comfortable doing.

No, in work with us the supervisor is friendly with some staff and some of the others believe, including me, it's one rule for them and another for everyone else,

i had a boss who wanted to be a mate. he is a bloke and when things did not go his way he lost it big time. i was glad in the end that i kept my distance from him or i would have felt like a right berk now.

yeah i have one that i use to work with at my job an as a group of us we all tend to go out on social at pub an stuff it pretty neat way to the end the business day i think.

Yes i went drinking with my boss and then he left and we are still friends no. My boss at the moment i am quite good friends with. It can get hard though when people are slating then

I know you meant mates as in " friends " . No , but I could see the disadvantages and pluses to that . I guess it can be a good thing !

i can,t see it lasting! bosses and staff shouldn't, be mates, it will only end in tears. trust me iv,e been there.

i had one who was more than a mate... i lived with him, until he dumped me..alright bloke though i was just a *****! (apparently)!
