Hello, My sister just told me she is starting a part time job as a Mary Kay Representative and it got me interested as I have not been able to find a job I like and due to certain medical conditions I have been homebound for awhile. Is it worth the 100-120 dollar investment to start this for some regular income as I can do it all by internet, phone, in person or all 3.

Not a silly question. I sold Mary Kay while working another part time job when my kids were small.
My Mark Kay sales grossed me 50% profit....when you buy $200. worth of products at a time. (anything less than $200. purchase gets you 35%)
The hard part was building a customer base. Once you have customers, keep good records and CALL them to replenish products or introduce them to new ones...seasonal specials etc.
There is an initial investment, but you can see profits soon.
Also...your taxes must be done differently. you are charged sales tax for your state on your purchase from Mary Kay, so you must collect tax from your customers. As an independent contractor, your annual taxes will have to reflect that.
Good news though...unless you get HUGE...you can deduct your business expenses.
Keep good records!

hope this helps

I thought it was worth the investment. I did a lot of research online before jumping in. First, it is not a part-time job. It is a business. If you become a Mary Kay consultanat you are starting your own business. You can work as hard or as little as you want to. You can invest as little or as much as you want to. Every decision you make is completely up to you. The best place to start the decision process is to ask your friends and family what they think of Mary Kay and would they consider trying it. If you don't have any family or friends that would buy it, you will have a harder time getting started. Always keep in mind that if you are unhappy, Mary Kay will buy back any product purchased by you within the past 12 mths for 90% the wholesale cost. Also, if a customer is unhappy with a product, they can return it at no cost to you. All in all, a Mary Kay business is what you make of it. GL!

I think it is. I love their make-up as well as their perfume and skin-care lines. My step-mom sells it, and I think she gets her make-up at a lower price than others, and I think she even gets some of it for free. However, you'd have to hold "parties" where everyone you sell it to must go to where you can experiment with any new make-up that Mary Kay may come out with. But I definitely think it'd be worth it to stay on top of the latest trends, and it doesn't take a lot of my step-mom's time. Hope that helps!

I love it! I have made about 100 a week and all I have been doing is calling in reorders. every three months you should call to reorder skincare and that is guaranteed. its something that runs out, reorders are awesome.

i highly doubt it as your customer base would be dying off a little more every month.
