i have two partions, C, D. both having win xp pro. want to know in which one I am currently working know?

goto run
type: msconfig
click ok

goto BOOT.INI tab
Change the name [ that shows u when u boot ur system ]
by wich u can get proper
Drive when u select for OS

you can't have two operating systems running a once and when you have one running the other partition on which you have an operating system installed is automatically hidden by your system therefore you shouldn't be able to see both c and d if both have windows xp installed on it. Therefore I think you probably don't have windows xp installed on both partitions. It will be on the c drive and the d drive will only be a logical drive which means that it is a data drive only ie no opearting system installed (which would be called a primary drive).

Begin installing any piece of software. When it asks where to put it, it will default to "Program Files" folder on the hard disk where the active Windows is installed.

Right click on My Computer, choose Manage. Open Storage/Disk Management. One drive will be called "System".

Go in the Start menu->Run type %systemdrive% press enter now the folder c:\ or d:\ will be opened. Now you can know Witch partiotion is runing as current Opreating System.

Goto My Computer, right click & select Properties.
Then goto Advanced, Select Environment Variables and watch for urself

Press del key to enter setup in that it will show the path its d: or c:
