Is anybody aware of any incidents in which a British Airways flight has crashed, because i'm going to be flying with them in October on an 18 hour flight and i'm just a bit reluctant to be on a flight for that long - (the way i see it, things that big and heavy aren't meant to be in the air for that duration of time). So any statistics or records which you may have or know of, which could ease my mind would be greatly appreciated.

Thanks

Hi British Airways crashing ? Thats like asking when will we all get to go to Saturn ?

Hey man, BA are on the of the soundest airlines in the Sky okay ? and in my opinion there are only three sound airlines in the world, they are British Airways, British Airways and British Airways. Convinced ? You should be, I am not getting paid to say this okay ? I am just a proud customer of my home country Airline because they are good, very good.

Just get on baoard the aircrew start off with a nice "Good morning/afternoon,evening, welcome aboard" and then they might even tell you how to get to your seat as the aircraft is so big, usually a B747-300/400 or B777, if you have kids they give you one of those little baby crib things so that you can put your baby to sleep in it! any dietary concerns, dont like any particular foods ? tell them before hand they sort that out for you as well.

Like a particular seat ? near the window over the wings, like the roar of the engines ? let them know when you book travel ticket, I think thats it, all you have to do now is go and pay. Have a nice 18 hours trip ! You"ll be fine ! enjoy it.

P:S The last accidents they had was one in the 1970s, a long time back, the aircraft was an Old "Trident" they scrapped those ages ago. A Fire broke out on the runway of a BA- B737 in 1985 in Manchester, England, thats it, Dont worry so much! relax & enjoy yourself.

I think British Airways is one of the best to choose from. I havent heard of any fatal accidents that have occured. I have flown on british airways 6 times and each flight was 8hrs. Just relax and have a safe trip!

They have a very good safety record. They have not had a fatal accident since 1976. I have flown on them twice and had very pleasant flights both times (each flight was about 10 hours long).

Take a look at the following link for more on their track record and also good good tips about air travel and lessening fear of flying:

British Airways has only ever experienced one fatal crash. But that was ages ago and, although their aircraft sometimes go through a fault, it never kills anybody and sometimes doesn't seriously injure anybody.

You are going to be in good hands too - you'll like British Airways, their staff are super-friendly and their food is nice. Have a nice flight! :)

I've flown a few times from London to San Francisco, Boston, USA.

Let me put it straight, there have been no fatal crashes with BA.

Stop worrying so much. Planes these days are highly sophisticated. I take it you're going to be on a Boeing 747? They are one of the best commerical modern planes, alongside the Boeing 777, etc...

I take it you don't fly much? The longest I've flown with BA is 11hours, although I've experienced flights of around 20 hours with other airlines. So tiring...
