Kids are having kids because of lack of guidance by parental figures. (For the most part & yes, that's a generalization with few notable exceptions) It takes work and effort to teach right & wrong, cause & effect, and in a society that's built on instant everything....it's not a popular concept anymore. I also expect to see this....trend.....reverse as some of these 'kids' mature & discover that maybe there's a better way than what they've known. Some of them will be the flag-ship for change that might bring back a bit of reason & common sense, along with discipline and responsibility.

Where do I start?
First of all, it is because:
1) British society has this very puritanical view of sex and that is why sex education in schools is a joke.
2) The British attitude towards drinking and drug taking has become the main reason why more people get wasted too young and end up doing things they wouldn't normally do.
3) There is no way to suitably discipline a child these days without running the risk of being arrested for child abuse.
4) Many parents let their kids do whatever they like because it is easier than teaching them moral values and respect for others or themselves. For more infromation, see number 3.
The youth of today is running amok due to all of the above issues.
We need to learn from countries like Belgium, where you can have 24 hour bars with very little trouble and you can buy highly diluted alcohol in small quantities. They are made for children so they know from a very early age how to pace themselves. We also need to learn from Holland. Pornography if freely available, prostitution is legal and it also has the lowest rate of teen pregnancies in Europe.
Think about it.

i think it is a culture issue....
i am not generalising, but this is related to teenage girls who do go and get pregnant at 13 and 14 years old with 15 year old boys !
the problem i think is that here parents are not being 'parents'
i have seen on the bus and on the streets, 13 yr olds behaving like they are adults and no one to tell them that they are still not complete adults... there are things children do they dont get told 'this is wrong at this age' - such as smoking, spending money, having mobile phones, having the so called rights and unfortunately sex also becomes one of those things that the teenagers 'just have to do it' just to prove that they can do what they like !
but because they are naive, inexperienced and not sure what they are doing, they end up getting STDs or pregnancy...
i have seen documentaries - these 'young mums' are mostly from families like single mums or divorced parents or having no close relationship with anyone in the family - this is a big problem. young boys and girls need friends, family and a close knit environment where they feel loved and cherished and sad to say that it is not the case in the UK.
sex education is adequate in this country, but the lack of good parents, close relationships in the family, good communication within family and the lack of love and affection from the family and no one to stop the kids doing whatever they want to do is causing teenage pregnancies !

Because they know (and their delinquent parents know) that even without the father being present to support them, us mugs (ie. the taxpayers) have to support their brats. If they didn't get free housing, council tax, school meals and clothing, etc then I think they would think twice before having unprotected sex. I also believe it's down to the parents to educate their children on the terrible effect having a baby at such a young age would have on their lives. It's about time the government did something about it because it's NOT FAIR! I work to pay for my children's upbringing so why should others get everything free? Makes me want to throw up with anger.
P.S. People say it's about sex education and that it should be taught at a younger age. WRONG. When I was a teenager in the 80's it was a lot more innocent than these days. Don't even remember having much sex education, we giggled at the word s*x at 13 and were more interested in barbie dolls. TV didn't consist of naked women on pop videos, our clothes didn't show off our slightly developed breasts and we wore long skirts and dresses. NONE of my friends or girls in the whole school ever became pregnant. I worked in a school up until summer where the girls talked about boys, makeup, Playboy accessories and they couldn't wait to go clubbing or have babies. The words "sh*g", "snog", and s*x were quite frequently mentioned and on the day where they could come in their own clothes, well they looked like tarts. They were 7 years old.

Because the schools are teaching too much about sex too young. They are teaching its OK to have sex. They are talking about the mechanics.
What they are NOT teaching is about stable, long term relationships. \they are NOT teaching about the responsibilities that come with sexual relationships.
AND the government says to pregnant teens, never mind, here is a nice flat to live in, and some money, so you don't need to work. Carry on having babies, and we will give you a nice house, and more lovely money
THAT'S WHY KIDS ARE HAVING KIDS.
Oh then they all discover its not really so great after all.

Its too late to turn back the clocks now..but in my opinion, when sex education @ school & talks about the dangers involved etc was introduced it achieved the exact opposite behaviour it was meant to do & exacerbated the very situation it was trying to avoid.....Kids will be kids...introduce & give them a little knowledge of something at an early age & as sure as eggs are eggs they will be experimenting & testing it out, especially if it is risky & they should not be doing it..kids are like that!

I tend to blame parenting. Parents of such offspring tend to be less involved with their children. And the cycle continues because the parent didn't exercise safe sex, so why should he/she impart this wisdom to their children? It upsets me to no end! It seems like all the stupid people are breeding (this isn't a blanket observation of all people who have kids, but it does seem like all the irresponsible people having sex tend to have the most kids with the same values).
EDIT: This one's to tizzy.
It isn't the school's responsibility to teach children values for long term relationships. This is what I mean about parents not taking responsibility--they always think it's someone else's job to raise their children. Schools will educate teens to have SAFE SEX. It is up to the parent to teach abstinence, the value of long term relationships, etc.

Because teenagers are irresponsible and ignorant. (Although I'm a teenager saying this ,lol but its true for the most part). And unfortunately, if you're a virgin somehow that makes you "uncool" or square or whatever the hell they say; which is dumb. And of course if you DO have sex or enjoy it [and you're a girl] you're labeled as a ****. Whether or not you had multiple partners or not. Its f_cked up (no pun intended).
So yeah. Teenagers are f*cking stupid. I dont even like most of the people my age actually, lol

Its the age old problem, they get sex ed in school or from parents but still believe it won`t happen to them when they have unprotected sex.
Also a few have babies young as its seen as a `fun` thing to do , plus you get extra benefits & the council house you in a flat of your own, something they fail to do for kids who want to do it the other way & just live together without the ties of babies 1st.

Feminists are encouraging one parent families - ( no male needed) this is reinforced by the Government handing out benefits and houses to so called single parent families. Sex education in schools, actually encourages sex between children. The evidence supports this. Schools hand out condoms to underage girls, and refer them for advice on abortion, without necessarily telling parents. Unbelievable. Routine abortion is seen as OK, almost as a form of contraception, eg. morning after pill. The government, having encouraged at least one generation of single parents, are now taking advantage of the fact that these single parents cannot cope with bringing up their children, by increasing state control over child rearing. All totalitarian governments aspire to this.
