no but kobe himself said he would join duke university if he went to collage. after about half way through 12th grade he knew he wasn't going to collage the nba was all over him. in his time the nba didn't have a rule that said you can't draft young men from high school, they must attend atleast 1 year of collage.

no he went straight from lower Merion high school to the nba. he was drafted by the charlotte hornets and traded to the lakers. the_dude is wrong, the rule now is that you have to be one year out of high school to be draft-eligible, you don't have to go to college, you can go to prep school, overseas, or just work with a trainer instead of college
