The baby will come when it's ready. I recommend to not ask for pertocin unless it is needed cause your water is leaking like my last pregnancy. Both of mine were quick but that stuff forces your body to go into labor and was much more painful I actually needed the epidural that time, I was strongly advised by the nurses, I was in pain. Not trying to scare you but my sister was in labor for 28 hours with that stuff and they ended up having to do a c-section anyways. I walked alot, and I heard that gravity helps move the baby down. My first pregnancy was fast and pain that was expected but not horrible. I was constantly on the go the last few weeks of pregnancy even if I was just at the mall or something. My first baby was on her due date and my second was 2 days early due to premature rupture of the membranes, hopefully this one is quick and on time too. Good Luck with your labor!

Actually if this is your first baby you shouldn't it could be dangerous for both of you. I wanted the pregnancy to be over bad by that time as its a bit of a hassell that far along. And especially if it is your first child that baby will come when he/she wants to never when you want them to. You just have to be patience and talk to your doctor about anything you feel that concerns you. There is a few things that might induce it like (and I am serious I read this in my baby book) playing with your nipples twirling them around at that point. There is a great book what to expect when your expecting. That is what I used and the only reference point I needed for all 3 of my pregnancies. It saved me unneccessary trips to the doctors and the like. But I wouldn't try to induce yourself it could be more hazardous then helpful. Its a pain but its really up to your body and the baby when you go into labor and the 8th month is simply to early anyway. After 36-38 weeks is when labor safely can happen at any given time. 42 is the ideal weeks before doctors induce labor themselves. No two pregnancies are the same either. You can't expect the same thing for a different pregnancy ever.

Damn!! I can't believe that you are already worried about going through labor, just take it a day at a time. Cherish your new curves (I did!! I loved being pregnant) Well, when i was pregnant, i was in college and i had to walk so that made me dialate a little by the time i was 37 weeks, i dialated to 3 cm. The baby was already head down too. Coming from experience, you should have sex as often as you can because when you have an orgasm it helps to soften up your cervix which promotes contractions. I was already having light contractions, but when i had sex i went into labor at 38 1/2 weeks. I know for sure when i had an orgasm and when my boyfriend came, it made me go into labor. My contractions went from 10 minutes apart to every 2 minutes apart in about 1 hour. i got to the hospital and i was 5 cm. Then an hour later i was pushing my baby girl out. I only went through labor for about 2 hours. Do walking and sex is the trick, but dont overdue them. The sex will be incredible trust me!!!

At eight months nothing should be done to speed up delivery. A baby needs every moment it can get to mature, grow and develop in the womb.
It ticks me off to see woman after woman (and not just here, but on some forums that I belong to) wanting to know how to get the baby here earlier than is truly medically safe.
You've got a bun in the oven. That bun needs to bake until it done just right. Why would you want to pop before that little bun is done?

Haha funny you ask cause if you find out id like to know. I was in labor for two days. I went to the hospital when i started having contractions. They sent me home because I wasnt dialated enough. That night was horrible i hurt I couldnt sleep I started bleeding. Went back to the hospital just a few hours after they sent me home. Still wasnt dilated enough, but I was bleeding. My mother showed up. They gave me an epadural (spelling?) and i felt better but nothing lol. Eventually I was required to have a c-section, no fun and on my birthday lol

Wow, in a bit of a hurry?
Baby should stay inside as long as possible, as close to 40 weeks as possible. Most first mothers go about a week overdue - this is totally normal.
Some people say eating spicy food can kick you into labor. Walking is also helpful, and sex releases hormones (in your orgasm, and in his semen) that can trigger the body into labor. (Get as much as you can before the baby comes! its scarce afterwards)

That baby is going to come when its good and ready. You can speed up contractions once they start by walking and walking and walking. Otherwise, a c-section is the only sure fire way to get it here early.

Nothing. Anything you hear on how to speed up labor is just old wives tales. Your baby will come out when it's ready! You don't want it to come early, it needs to be in there!
