You need a special thermometer that is very sensitive. It measures to within one-tenth of a degree.

You will need to take your temperature every morning upon waking up. Start doing this the first day of your cycle, the day you get your period.

Record the temperatures on a chart like the ones found here:
http://www.fertilityplus.org/faq/bbt/bbt.html
http://www.webwomb.com/bbt_chart.htm

When you ovulate, your temperature will rise about 0.5 degree, and will stay elevated until your next period (or until you give birth to a baby should you get pregnant).

This method is cheaper and gives more information than using ovulation tests, but it does involve a little more thinking and interpretation. For more info on learning about your cycle, I suggest reading the book Taking Charge of Your Fertility by Toni Weschler.

You'll need a basal thermometer (as opposed to a regular fever thermometer, which is not accurate enough.) You should take your temperature first thing in the morning, at about the same time every day and before getting up or doing anything at all active. A shift upwards from your normal temperature range (by about .5 degrees) should indicate when you ovulate. I strongly recommend reading "Taking Charge of Your Fertility" by Toni Weschler if you want to learn about how your cycles work and how to chart your fertility signs to aid in conception.

There are different websites you can go to and chart for free which is the best way I think. fertilityfriend.com is one or you can purchase the program that I used at tcoyf.com. The one you pay for has more details and tells you information. You can do the 15 day trial period and test it out. You need a basal thermometor and then you just take your temp everymorning (before getting out of bed) and the track it. Check out the tcoyf website and it will go through everything for you. Good luck!

Hold off until tomorrow. Last month my period was 1 day later and my bbt didn't drop until 4 days into AF. Your luteal phase can change by a day so wait until tom and if no temp drop or AF then test away.

Use a good digital thermometer. Take your temperature every morning before you get out of bed. When it gets higher, even slightly, you are ovulating and should be able to conceive.

My doctor told me to take it every morning before I get out of bed before I get up and around.
Cause those ovulation kits are to much money and they dont work for me. Don't mean they want for you or anyone else.
