I have a 93 F150 truck and my exhaust fell apart and I also noticed that my transmission was jumping or kicking when I stepped on the gas. So I thought that it might have something to do with the air flow from the engine to the exhaust. I just got my exhaust fixed and I still have the same problem with the transmission. I don't know a whole lot about fixing cars so I was wondering if it is something minor like changing the fluid, etc. or if I might have a bad transmission.

Change filter and fluid every 30,000 or put sync trans fluid in and go 70,000

How long did you drive with the exhaust apart? Where under the truck did it fall apart?
Sounds like you should check the transmission mount not the motor mounts.

the transmission shouldnt move more than the mounts allow it to you may have a broken/wore out motor mount. but if the gears shift and it drives okay and your fluid is still red and translucent your fine on the inside. just check the fluid while its running and if its black you can take it into a shop and get a tranny service to change the fluid and then for the movement if the engine moves the same as the tranny then you may need to replace motor mounts.

I don't even think it's the trans. Do you have a clutch or auto? What gear does this happen in? Give us some hints please. We can help better if you tell us this.

PS: changing the fluid will not solve this problem.
