I am writing a paper in psychology about racism and I would like to know about the differences every day people see in different races whether it be Blacks, Whites, Latin, Palestine, or Asian culture. If you have experienced racism from a different race of people other than your own kind or another race, can you share your opinions on any kind of racism whether you experienced it or someone else around you? Share your experiences - NO JOKES!

OK, here's one. i was dating a very nice, good natured African American man several years ago. together we went to the mall to purchase some items from a hollywood themed store. i took my purchases to the check out first, gave the young clerk a large bill, ($50.00), got my change and proceeded to wait for my boyfriend. the clerk did not know we were together. his purchase was rung up, he paid with a large bill, ($100.00). he was totally scrutinized. the counterfeit pen came out and was even asked for i.d.. i was flabbergasted! he told me he was used to it unfortunately. people can be so ignorant.

I live in Texas and there are a lot of different races here. You have to get along with all of them but it is hard sometimes. I go to a hair store which we call beauty supply and most of them are owned by asians. Some are so sweet and laugh and joke and others follow me around like I will steal something or are rude for no reason. We have a lot of Mexicans here and they are taking over everyhing. We can't even get a job without being bilingual almost. We have so many things here in spanish we can't read. **** sometimes I feel I am a foreigner. A lot of people loved ones have been killed by drunk drivers and most of them were hispanic. I am not saying all. Then the white people here just look at you with disgust. They think they own everything and everyone must move out of their way. They are always opposing anything for the hispanics or blacks. My friend and I were leaving walmart last week and I had 3 bags in my basket. There was an asian couple leaving out as well with a shopping cart filled with bags. The censors went off and I had already went through with my 3 bags and was in the parking lot. This white lady chased my to the car to come back in and she had not even checked the asian people. I went back and she checked my receipt and bags and I was clear, but she hadn't checked the asians and sure enough a censor was left on one of their DVD's. That was wron

Okay, I was at the national convention with my two best (white) buddies. After we finished with the competition, we decided to go back and ask the people when the judges decisions would be posted. So, my two buddies strolled right past a group of white judges and walked in. Thinking it was fine, I tried to do the same and was halted, and perfectly yelled at that I could not go through the entrance way. Thankfully, my friends came back and explained the situation (the man would not listen to me) and he told us when the decision was posted. I did not recieve an apology; I just took it as being unfair.

I haven't experienced much racism in my life..I'm white gay canadian..I have experienced homophobia and I think the two are very alike...but to answer your question: No....I have hung around with/and worked with a lot of chinese people over the years..and never had a problem...if I did, all I had to do was just say something to them in mandarin...I can speak a lot of mandarin..but when I was still learning..it really helped break the tension..because I was trying, and I think because people can sense when you really like them that it tends to diffuse the racial issue......This is just one tiny point of view in a big field you're looking at....BTW I used to work with asian people who would come to me to write correct english memos to their bosses at work (our boss) and to question whether I thought that a training teacher was racist or not. I always told them the truth..Nothing, but nothing beats telling the truth.

I was working one night with a great man who I respected so much he had lead an interesting life here and in Trinidad (he was black) he was working security and we had a young group of black young men congregate in the lobby and we being rude and loud. He approached them with all due respect and class in a five star hotel and asked them to leave if they had no pertinent business in the hotel (it was 3 am)..this one black youth turned to him and told him to go back to Africa, my jaw dropped and I couldn't believe the disrespect for someone who is your "blood brother", I realized then and there that race is a cop out, he said that just because he could not come up with something remotely smart.

I'm a dark latina but I'm also mixed. I'm Nicaraguan, Costa Rican, Indian, Chinese and white. Once I went to a restaurant w/ my aunt and 2 white elderly men gave us one cautious look and left. My uncle's parents don't like my aunt because she is dark skinned. I've been called a **** an immigrant(I was born here). I've been called low-class because some guy on here named Mr.Curious we can't read( how idiotic) or else I would be on this forum. There are plenty of other things alot...

I think reverse racism is just as rampant as true racism. This is fueled by media way too much. The influence of 1 ignorant person can corrupt many. Just remember...We are the HUMAN race.

I will tell you in very few words what racism is. It is the lack of knowledge of each other cultures and the lack of communication. There is know known cure because to feel at home people of the same color live in one area . yet indigenous people scream they don,t want to integrate. But they don,t want them living next door either. God bless you and good look in whatever you try to achieve

well i live in Tottenham which is the most culturally diverse area in all of the U.K. which means i have friends from all different races and backgrounds(I'm white btw) as well as boyfriends. all I've found is that while none of there parents have been openly rude or racist to me and are also polite they disagree with there son's dating outside of the culture etc. it seems while my generation here mix alot more our parents tend not to.
also sometimes people expect me to be racist because I'm white and English which really bothers me alot. none of my family ever married outside of our culture but this was mainly to do with where we originally from-Wigan-where there are mainly white people. this meant that when my brother married a black women everyone always asked me- 'Don't your parents mind' etc. also her mother even said she thought we'd hate her because she's black which botherd me. isn't this making presumptions due to my background?
