I've been in the auto business for 23 years, in Illinois. I've never heard of such a ridiculous charge. Sounds rather "scammish" to me.
Let's see ...Jiffy Lube does how many of these 'inspections' per day ? Multiply by $10 per ?

I would call "Dateline NBC" or " 20 / 20 " .....bet they'd LOVE to check out "Jiffy Lube" ......AGAIN.

I live in NC also, and yes they do have that crazy thing about the window tinting. Frankly it sucks! I live in Henderson county, and they just started it here last year I think. I don't know about you, but this whole inspection system in this state is a joke! Maybe they will get a clue, and stop trying to steal money from us. Yeah that's right, STEAL money. Some states don't even have an inspection, so why in the Hell do we??? Sorry about the crazy fit, but I have just had it with these money hungry *******! Good Luck, and if you are ever up here in the mountains, maybe you can catch my band. Case & Jones Express. Sometimes we put on a pig roast, and party a little , but we don't charge to inspect anything!! Ok already... I can take a hint!! I will shut up now. Good luck!

I live in N.C. and I didn't know they charged extra for that..I'll have to remember that..Call another station that does inspections and ask them if there's an additional charge for tinted windows when a car is getting inspected..

Window tint is a state by state thing. Some states don't allow it at all, others just on the back windows, others allow all windows to a certain darkness. Your question should go to fellow North Carolinians only.
