Yeah like that would work. Think a little about what you are saying. The majority of people who are on welfare suffer from addiction problems or are unstable in some way or another. This does not apply for everyone on welfare but for a big part of them. Do you think these people would really be hard working responsible employees? This would reek havoc among small business owners in the USA and big business as well. Illegals are very valued in the restaurant business because they are so hard working. They are usually preferred even to cooks who have formal culinary education. If you were to go inside the best kitchens inside the best restaurants in the USA I guarantee you will find illegals manning the stoves. There is something to be said for that.

The so-called "immigration problem" is yet another obfuscating smokescreen employed by the powers-that-be to befuddle the American public and divert its attention from the practical on-the-ground realities of the situation. "Illegal immigrants" come to the U.S. precisely because businesses can't get enough domestic workers who are willing to work for the wages offered here, so these employers look elsewhere for their workers. Keeping and/or throwing "illegal immigrants" out does nothing for the domestic employment situation, since these domestically undesirable jobs would get no local takers and the positions would simply go unfilled. The answer to the "illegal immigration problem" is for American employers to pay a LIVING, rather than a SUBSISTENCE, wage, thereby making all jobs appeal to U.S. citizens and/or legal residents. As long as employers continue to insist on paying far-below-poverty-line wages (usually without medical benefits), then people from the very poorest countries will of course keep coming to take these "let them have crumbs" jobs...just look at Walmart!

Why don't we give Texas to Israel?
Solves the middle east and immigration at the same time. I bet they would have a more secure border with Mexico than we do.

That's a pretty good idea.
Look, the real problem here is not the illegals crossing, but our gutless politicians' lack of decision making abilities. If bureaucrats would get off their cushy desk chairs and pass REAL legislation to enforce the law, there wouldn't be a problem!

If you recall from your elementary school history lessons, this country was founded by immigrants. Unless you are of Native American descent, you or your family clearly "hopped the border" to reside in the U.S. Most immigrants then were poor and struggling to create a life in a new land, and many also did not speak English. Us "Americans" who feel so entitled to this land and government may do well to remember why it is we ourselves are here.
