Good question. The Rock and Roll Hall of Fame is a JOKE. Whats the criteria here? If you performed at Woodstock you're in, if you were around in the sixties or prior you're in, if your music sucks but you're a humanatarian you're in? I think it needs to wipe the slate clean and figure out a better system than put everyone in who ever had one hit song!

I'm not a big U2 fan, but U2 and REM both played a major role in college radio back in the late 70's/early 80's. They were both considered underground bands back in the day. They also mutually achieved great commercial and critical success and were the first "college" bands to make the crossover to pop success. Yes, in my opinion U2 is overrated, but their groundbreaking crossover appeal coupled with their longeivity earn them a place in the HOF.
