Yahoo! Music Launchcast streams digital music to your computer for free and has many radio stations to choose from. It's built into Yahoo messenger.
Also, most public libraries have decent cd collections covering many genres of music. They are free to borrow of course.

Launchcast on yahoo is awesome, you create your own station for free!!! They allow you to rate the music and artists that you want to hear the most. When your station is playing, you have the ability to rate songs that you don't like, and tell launchcast to never play the song again. Plus you can pause and skip songs as well. All you need is to be a Yahoo member. Good luck!!
