yes... dot means multiply. Don't forget your order of operations.. "Please Excuse My Dear Aunt Sally" so multiply first then subtract.

yes, the dot means multiply - and you have to follow the order of operations too. You multiply before you add or subtract.

I don't know why there would be a dot in the middle of the parenthesees, but the first in the order of ops is what is in the parenthasees.

I'm not sure that your equation makes sense, you might have left something out. 17 - 2()=4? Good luck

Yes, but you also know that you multiply and divide FIRST, from left to right, then add/subtract from left to right. In your problem the answer would be 9.
