It's not. Murder is the killing of an innocent human being. Every abortion kills an innocent human being. Anyone who doubts this needs to see:

The question is when life begins. Many people believe that life begins at conception, in which case aborting that fetus would be murder.

Many people believe that until the fetus grows to a certain point (sometimes birth, depending on who you ask), it isn't a separate life. It's like the eggs in a woman's uterus - the potential to become a baby is there, but it isn't fulfilled yet. To those people, surgically removing something from the woman is like removing an unwanted appendix or wisdom teeth.

And as many pro-choice activists will point out, it's poor underaged girls who most often get pregnant unintentionally. So outlawing abortion would cause a whole lot more children to be born into desperation and poverty to parents who aren't ready for the responsibility of parenthood.

I choose not to agree or disagree with either of these sides. Instead of engaging in heated debates that divide people needlessly, I'd rather encourage people to unite in a common cause. Instead of the pro-lifers declaring war on the pro-choicers, and the pro-choicers declaring war on the pro-lifers, why don't we all unite to declare war on unwanted pregnancies?

Think of it this way: If all the time and money that's been wasted fighting over the abortion issue since Roe v Wade had been spent on sex education and condom distribution instead, how many abortions could have been prevented?

Many groups for abortion, like to think that there is a difference. They tend to feel that an abortion is not a murder. But it is. From the time of conception, the little fetus has a soul. The soul is there from the time of conception. It is the inner core of the fetus. That is my firm beliefs. Abortions continue on daily only because the pregnant female thinks that the pregnancy is nothing more then an egg. I can't understand why most active women who have sex, can not protect themselves from becoming pregnant. There are so many ways, but only one way to end a pregnancy and that is to kill the fetus.

I am an MD. I believe that abortion is fundamentally different than murder in several ways. The answer of course depends on how far along the pregnancy is. And in the end it all depends on what your sense of values is, and how it translates to this issue. For instance, I believe most people feel that it is immoral to purposefully destroy a human consciousness. So when does consciousness occur in the fetus? Brain waves do not begin until the fourth month, and then they are rather primitive. We must wait until the 6th-7th month before they begin to resemble conscious brain activity. Destroying an embryo or fetus before brain waves occur does not strike me as particularly immoral, since we do it all the time with "brain dead" accident victims of any age.
I had an MD friend who was devoutly religious and who carried bible verses in his white coat pocket, and he would refer to them frequently. He quoted Leviticus 17:11 and 17:14 which states that the life of something is in the blood. So when does blood form in the embryo? It comes around the 4th week. So by his reconing from Leviticus, the embryo is not "alive" in the biblical sense until there is blood present. Therefore an abortion is not murder until there is blood present(?)
Lastly, there are approximately 1,300,000 abortions performed in the US annually, compared to ~5,000 other kinds of murders annually. Since abortion is clearly premeditated, and the pregnant woman is clearly a willing participant, as well as the main perpetrator of the crime and willing accomplice, she would need to be charged and convicted just as any other murderer, out of simple fairness to Jeffery Dahmer and Ted Bundy and all the other murderers. That would amount to quite a few more death row inmates and executions, particularly among women. At this level, we are talking Auschwitz type Nazi genocide, aren't we?
So clearly, abortion is ALOT DIFFERENT than murder, in my humble opinion, of course.

Depends on your viewpoint. An age-old issue.

Basically, abortion is a mother killing a baby inside her. Murder is someone killing another person who was already born.

It is NO different.

What Mother would kill the biggest blessing that God can give her and take the very life of her own child?

And say it is a good thing.

Peace!
