They tried the Red Coat soldiers. Although they were not convicted of murder, most were acquitted and those convicted got light sentences, but the people were satisfied that they were put on trial, and John Adams was the Red Coat's defense lawyer. He understood, and I think the people later did too, that a fair trial is one of the freedoms the colonies were revelling for.
