I never thought on racial terms untill I came to the US, never before in my life when I lived in Mexico, was my mind used to think in racial terms, and now I see that, and I detect that your mind can get used to think in such a way, but I reject it!
I reject it because before anything else we all are humans, and because under the skin we are the same. In mexico there is people from many tonalities of skin but we never made any differentiation to others as being less or being inferior, or that some supposedly were better in account of their skin color. my mind didn't have that pattern of thought at all. But when i came to the US I was shocked at how polarized everything is here, and nobody wanst to accept it, everybody wants to be politically correct, adn everybody is cautious about everybody else, careful of not saying the wrong words or such. the difference of culture was as hard as hiting teh water from 10 feet high, hard! I feel saddened that so many people in the States can't concibe of a different type of society, and think that it is the normal way for thigns to be, but they are not, believe me.

as an "exotic" white person i guess, (indian and italian) who has a black husband and a baby on the way, and who was adopted by a family of german desecnt, i find the racial issue in this country to be at a decent standstill. I think this country is pretty open minded about race, we've come along ways from what it was 100 years ago. N trust me, to me that's a good thing. I mean, lik someone else said, you always have your ignorant people here n' there, but that's with everything.

Race relations in this country are good. You do see a lot more interracial couples on the streets and on TV. You still have your ignorant people here an there, but nobody will be able to change ignorance. We just need to see each other as Americans, and America is made uo of two continent not one country.

As a multi-racial individual, I think that race relations in this God-forsaken country are abysmal. Back in the 60's and early 70's, decent people made an honest effort to get along. Our present government is largely to blame for the present situation: Caucasians are vilifying Arabs, Indians, and Pakistanis, and allowing Mexican workers to be treated as subhuman. (I think Caucasians view Asians as "honorary whites".) Add to that the government's attempts to abolish Affirmative Action. I don't know what's in store for this country, but it ain't good.

I was always naive to racial issues....I live in in a smaller city in Canada. I guess I dont see alot of race issues as we all live in the same areas. I noticed in Florida it wasn't like that. It was like this is where mostly this race is and this is where mostly this race lives. I was overwelmed with the rascism and how it worked both ways. It just opened my eyes to how easy I have it and how thankful I wasn't raised like that. I was really shocked, I didn't know how to react. I couldn't relate or understand it. And I never will. I guess I didn't answer your question...because I don't know if it's worse

I assume that you are talking about the US...after being on this site for a few months...I am apalled at the amount of hatred between the races...not that we don't have racial problems of our own in Canada...but the US seems to be filled with such hatred...I never realized before how unhappy people in the US are--ar least the ones on here

In comparision to what? I mean, are they ideal? Of course not. But if you take a long view, we as a nation are less exploitive of immigrants than we were one hundred years ago, although major corporations would like to see it go back to that. Companies like Wal-Mart look at indentured servitude as "the good old days."

any u . s . a . with alot of black persons, via fact they're those that make a huge deal out of race. i might ought to declare the two the u . s . or South Africa. Muslims are on their way as much as passing blacks via fact the main racist so look out for CIVILIZAED international locations with severe muslim populations like england and sweden. yet muslim, or arab, is technically not a race

People are really judge mental now days. Every person looks at race differently. I say that I am not racist, but then find myself saying stuff about others, I guess it just depends on the person.
