i'm taking fashion in gr.11 so i'm gonna learn how to sew. i'm a beginner at this. i think it would be more satisfying for me when i look into the mirror and i'm wearing a dress that i made myself rather than wearing one store bought. what do you think is better?
i really wanna try to make a dress. btw a dress is easier to make than a 2-piece outfit believe it or not. lol :P

If you can make your own dress, I would for many reasons; you made it, no one else would have a dress like yours, and if you are in fashion design it would be great experience. On the other hand, if your skills aren't perfected in a decent amount of time, I would look at purchasing one.

Well if your a beginner you should probably have an expert like the teacher watch you. However by time prom rolls around youll be an expert. If it doesnt turn out the way uu want it to be ou can always buy. DONT LIMIT yourself.

PS Draw sketches and then try to make them in like a doll size

I've actually made a few formal dresses and I know that it isn't really a beginner project. Yet, I don't want to discourage you. Sewing is a great skill to know. Just look at the pattern books and find one that perhaps says that it is less detailed. You can look fabulous without over shooting your skills. My best advice is that you have someone willing to help. Good luck!

I went through prom and I know the stresses my friends and I went through with prom, dresses, reservations, dates, and so on. I would say do yourself a favor and buy your dress! In the long run you will have more time with everything else instead of worrying about making your dress yourself. They have very cute ones now a days and they have unique and creative trendy dresses. Making one would just add more stress to the whole event and you want to enjoy your prom.

A promenade gown CAN come from a branch shop, besides the very undeniable reality that the "longer sturdiness" area is arguable. It would not even want to very last lengthy because we are probably going to placed on it what -- two times? trend is quickly paced, probably too quickly paced for the likes of you. There are beautiful promenade clothing available in case you know the position to seem so do not generalize basically with the help of seeing a pair of links on y!a. go away the gown judgements to the ladies. well if you are a beginer i would have to say no i sew and it is REALY hard to make a dress so just go out and buy a dress or go to a store and have one made that you can chose the disine. But if you like to make your own desine make it your self.
