What principles guide your buying decisions?

Are you the type of person who researches and shops around for a deal or are you powerless to things that catch your eye?

Yep. I'll buy things on the spur of the moment.

Though in self defence it usually happens if I come across something I think somebody I know might really like. So I get it for them.

It's one of the perks of being an old fart and having worked long and hard to be where I am now.

Sometimes I do make impulse purchases. While I do not have hard and fast "principles" for my buying purchases, I would say that I do have a few, sometimes loose, guidelines.

1. Expensive items: I research expensive items, perhaps not exhaustively, but sufficient to get an idea of what the general consensus is regarding various brands of said item.

2. Inexpensive items: I generally don't research these purchases as these items are typically consumables and/or easily replaced. This is the area where impulse shopping most often comes into play. I'll try something new, if the price is right.

3. Budget. It is best to not go over-budget. If I'm going to blow the budget this week, it has to be something I deem "special."

4. Pure impulse: if something "catches my eye," I will consider a number of factors before submitting to the purchase. These include: price, my knowledge of the product, continuing availability, and sheer desire. The more something costs, the more likely I am to delay purchase and research the item. The more I know about a product and how it might benefit me, the more likely I am to purchase it. The less I know, the more likely I am to delay purchase. Continuing availability typically means seeing something discontinued or on sale that I might like to delay purchasing, but might miss out on if I wait too long. Sheer desire means exactly what it sounds like: if I see an item and have the most intense burning desire to possess it, then, all other factors being equal, I will purchase it on the spot.

Thus, I am in the middle, neither being overly cautious nor overly impulsive in my purchases.

Yes, sometimes. Most of the time I do research a lot before buying, but sometimes I am also very impulsive.

convinced, i imagine that's, and highly because they see it on television or different media. there is all the drama, and the severe emotion. It receives their adrenalin going. probably touches a mind center linked with exhilaration hormones. yet, it is about human lives and actual households in want, and a rustic and subculture and households. people might want to shop in ideas the Viet Nam toddler raise. a lot of those little ones were no longer orphaned, nor did they want to go away the country.
