I am a guy going to be playing a female part on stage and need to make it look like I kiss a guy. Any suggestions on how to fake it?

Alright so I was in a play where I had to kiss a guy, and the same guy had to kiss another girl in the same play, here is what I have to say about faking kissing:

(1) He and the other girl did not touch lips instead they tried the turning the head trick...really unbelievable, made everyone feel uncomfortable and lost the romantic energy of the scene.

(2) He and I fake kissed lips touching, open mouth (no tongue!!!) and everyone believed it. You should almost believe it yourself...when you feel the way your character would feel it is the ultimate way to make the audience believe your character really wants to be kissing this other person (regardless of whether you really want to or not)...our kiss won an award (it was a province wide high school acting competition)

Another note..if you guys are going to try the turned head trick, be very aware of make-up. I say this because on stage, during an actual preformance the guy and other girl "fake -kissed" and when they pulled apart he had her mascara and eyeliner all over his cheek (so he obviously didn't kiss her lips, and it loses it's romantic intensity and believability).

Break a leg!

NOTE: sorry when I first wrote this I thought you were a girl....I don't know what to say except that if you're really serious and want to persue acting as a career or something, you will have to get used to stepping out of your comfort zone (obviously the other guy must be willing to as well)...Good luck.

I have to be honest, your lips will probably touch, no matter how much you practice. But, if you both kiss each other's cheek right next to your lips it will look like a real kiss. I've seen it done many times and it's worked, but half the time you still end up kissing by mistake.

If you want it to look real, you're going to have to touch your lips to his. Anything else will be really phony-looking.

You don't have to open your mouth if it makes you uncomfortable, although it makes it more real looking. (No tongues, though, unless you want to)

It might make you more comfortable if you can have a rehearsal with the director, where you plot out the moment physically, like a dance. That helps me when I feel nervous with an intimate scene.

There's always the old thumb-across-the-lips routine.

Or you could just do it. No one would think less of you or question your sexuality. Especially since stage kisses are rarely passionate.

first of all let me just say good luck :P

and i wonder if you could not just act like you are going to kiss this person and go to the side of their face so it looks like you are kissing them or their cheek the people watching are going to be a little distance away anyway :)

hahahaha!!! oh..sorry...umm...just put your face on the side of his face away from the audience and have him move his head in circles. Everyone knows your faking it anyway
