Hockey is dangerous for a couple of reasons. First, the speed. Some hockey players can travel up to 30 miles per hour on skates. When you check someone at that speed, injuries will occur. Second, the puck. Some players can shoot the puck (which is rock hard) at more than 90 miles per hour. Third, you carry a stick, which can and has been used as a weapon. Finally, you do this on a frozen surface surrounded by boards with no give. It results in injuries.

The only thing dangerous that I can come up with is getting hit a 70 mph pucks! But then again I am only a goalie, so you know. I've had 4 concussions and way way too many bruises to count.
Although, I can see nothing dangerous about hockey that makes it "so dangerous". You just have to be safe by wearing all you gear. I am never scared about getting hurt out there, I just do what I need to do even if I get hurt in the process.

The game of Hockey is a fast moving hard hitting contact sport played by men with clubs in their hands and blades on their feet. Now the team with the most goals and men still standing in the end is the winner. Lesser men play other sports, Real men play Real Hockey

because u are going at full speed on a very Hard and Slippery surface..and there is a very big chance u can crash full speed into anothe rplayer or the boards..just yesterday during a scrimmage i got the air knocked outta me after i crashed into a boy full speed..and i had no time to stop. if u r playing hockey where u can check that makes it evebn more dangerous cuz u can hit the boards or fall in a bad position..equipment can protect u..but it dont mean u wont get hurt

It is not as dangerous. You dont see a hockey player losing lims every game. You just get banged up. Thats all. Plus that is what makes more exciting.

it is usually only dangerous when there is careless people playing the game. there are risks in the game because of the velocity of the sport, especially a piece of rubber flying sometimes at 100mph. it takes a lot of skill to play the game properly...and unfortunately...to make a team...a lot of people who are not entirely skilled will be on the ice. things like stick handling, puck control, skating, how to hit, how to take a hit, going into boards, blocking, and even fighting are skills many players just assume they can do, but are not skilled in properly. one of the biggest misconceptions is talent is mistaken for skill, even the biggest names and money making players are not fully skilled...thats why many get injured.

It's really not that dangerous...I've been playing for like 11 years and the only real significant injury was a broken arm...some other injuries include bruised rib, cuts, jammed fingers...I really don't worry about getting hurt

It's dangerous? I played it al my life and never thought it was a "dangerous" sport. It's rough at times and people can get injured but I never felt I was in danger. We're not talking mountain climbing here sport-wise.

Wow.. I play almost every day (have since I was a little girl) ...and I've never thought of it as dangerous!
It's fast... it's exciting.... it's awesome exercise... but it's no more dangerous than any other sport.
Go for it.. it's a blast!!
