I would say angels have the appearance of man or woman, but not in the sexual or physical areas.
God made man in his/her image.
The same would be of the angels who were before us.
I do not see history to show angels procreating with other angels.
I would say that angels are neither male or female.
Only the image of one or the other.

My understanding has always been that angels are sexless beings. It says so somewhere in the Bible, but I don't remember where. That's why it has always puzzled me that popular representations of angels seems to always depict them as females, with breasts. The names of the angels, while used as male names, are just that, names of angels. It just happened that people chose to name male children, rather than female children after them.

I would have to say both. Angels take the human form. They are here for a purpose. I don't think it matters if they come in male or female form.
