I've lost my MOT documents after buying my car, I can't find them anywhere! I'm now trying to sell the car, as I have new one, but buyers are always asking me if I got the MOT papers, but I know for a fact that the MOT finishes in like 6 months or so. How can I get hold of another document proving that it's MOT'd, other than using the HPI stuff on the net??

Have you lost your MOT papers or have you lost your DVLA registration as well. The MOT is only one piece of paper and the Garage where you got it from has a duplicate which they will sale to you. I think some garages are computer networked, your information can be obtained from any other garage that uses the system if the original one you went to subscribes to the system the only thing you need is the registration number of your car. Considering that you are left with 6 months on your old MOT it means you car is still in a satisfactory condition meaning that you can get anoter MOT it will not cost you much, if you are had hit for money you can include the cost of the MOT on the price of the car. Duplicat DVLA papers can also be obtained from the DVLA. Meanwhile just drive your car but do not pollute the enviroment.

Papers? What papers?

You only need one certificate, for the MoT!

Garages have to keep records, so go back where the MoT was done and ask for a re-issue... it will cost you though.

Be sure to take the car along, and your registration document/proof of ownership with you, if the garage owners don't know you too well.

if you know where and approx when your mot was done on this car go to garage where was done and duplicates can be obtained or go to any MoT centre which is computerised (not all are as this is new system being implemented-try a main dealer like kwik fit if trying this option) and they should be able to give you reprint. Maximum cost for this is £10 you will also nd to take registration documents for vehicle with you to prove you are owner

You could try asking the MOT Test Centre if it can supply a copy of the original MOT Cert. That's if you know who/where the Test Centre is.

From the garage which tested it, give them the approximate date and they will moan furiously as they check their records but will write out a replacement which will cost half as much as a test, yes honest £ 20 +.
If you cannot remember where it was tested you probably dont have an MOT because you forgot to get it tested.
