When she lets you know that she'd prefer you to recognize and treat her as a she. Most m/f T people really appreciate being addressed as a she.

If she tells you she's TS then she has always been female. If she isn't living female 24/7 then when she's dressed female or in private. Sexual Reassignment Surgery isn't what makes her a woman, you have to prove your female to get the surgery.

Thanks for your question. If your brother would like for you to call him "she" then that's up to you and him. It is certainly ok to do so. I hope he is getting some good cousneling from professional people like counselors that he can trust. For some of us, understanding our identity as human beings, including our sexuality, is more complicated. It takes time and loving help. I want to thank you for being such a good brother and being there for him. It is just the right thing to do.

When others know that your brother isn't going by he anymore but is going by she now. So you'll refer to him as she instead of he when they know.
