Cotton is made from the cotton fluff as seen in cotton fields. Linen is made from, of all things, hemp. The hemp stalks are crushed and stripped. the sinues are divided into a fine very thin thread which is made into cloth. It is quite stiff when first made. The hemp, a relative of the Cannabis plant, is drug free and not to be confused.

Linen is fine and more expensive, but it wrinkles the second you wear it so it is not adviseable to buy or wear.

Cotton breathes easier and the best cotton is Egyptian or Pima.
It doesn't wrinkly and it doesn't need dry cleaning.
