becoming a lorry driver? is this a good career choice?

Yes that is what I am training to do now. I failed my test 1st time on a stupid mistake so I'm going back in a few weeks to try again.

Once I pass I already have a job waiting earning £650 a week... thats more than double what I get now. If you live down south I hear the wages are a lot better there. Plus theres lots more money to be made if you train to carry hazardous goods.

If you don't like driving then its not for you but if you like to drive and travel and sit on your *** all day and you don't mind sleeping over then its a great career.

If you thoroughly enjoy lorry driving. Think about the nights away from home. Plus unlikely you'll eventually become a millionaire!!

It is becoming less attractive as the price of fuel and wages in the UK is making more and more employers look for eastern european drivers who fill up over there bring a load over here and stay for a few days working over here then take a load back.
It works out a lot cheaper for them that way.

I would expect drivers wages to reduce to deal with the competition.

yes the pay can be very good. however you need to hold your class 2 for a year before you can take your class 1 so it isnt something you can just do straight away.
Seperate theory test is also required, lessons and test fees are expensive.
if you suffer from road rage consider wether you could sit at 56 mph on the motorway all day.

very good for money, but long hours. and poss time away from family. most of my mates do this and they love there job. they can become a MAN again but enjoy family life as well.
