recently, i've had this chirping sound on the front left wheel of my vehicle. it drives me nuts to see where it's coming from.

no there is nothing wrong with my engine or belt, that's not the one chirping... and no it is not the universal joint...

it's coming from the left wheel of my car, is it possibly the brake system or something else?

it only comes up once in a while. any ideas would be appreciated

Sounds to me like a wheel bearing. If you get the noise when you are moving forward and steering hard to the right or left. It is the wheel bearing.

I KNOW EXACTLY WHAT YOU'RE TALKING ABOUT! I HAD THE SAME THING A FEW MONTHS AGO!! You need to be careful and get your wheels checked. You need either a new tire or you need to make sure your wheel is placed correctly. Have you had your tires rotated recently. My tire did the same thing, I needed to replace my tire. I almost got into an accident on my way to work. The tire blew off and the grid stripped completely off. After the tire swelled up really bad, and it ripped out my wires from the engine as well as the tire guard. Hella dramatic! It's dangerous, so go get your tires checked before you damage it anymore. It cost me a fortune to buy new wheels, to get the car rewired, and it would've cost me even more if any more damage was done.

Brakes calipers have warning sensors that usually make a noise when you apply the brakes. These are nothing more than small pieces of metal that touch the rim and chirp or squeal.

Sounds like brake wear indicators. Get the car serviced now before you have caliper problems. Should just need pads for now.

your brake pads could be worn down to the rivets or you have run over a flock of birds and one is holding on for dear life around your left front wheel

May be a brake wear indicator...check your brake pads (if it's coming from the front). If it's only doing it some of the time, it may just be brake dust.

You have run over a little rubber ducky and it stuck to the tire.
