My wife is 32 weeks pregnant with twins. Her hands have started to swell up some the past couple days. Is there anything she can do to bring the swelling down?

you are so sweet, it is very nice to see a man taking good care of his wife. Congrats on the twins.....ok, here's what she can do:

1. Cut back on salty meals, that makes the body retain water, then she swells.
2. She could be retaining water for some other reason so tell her to drink lots of water.
3. If you leave in warm weather she should try to stay cool, because the heat causes water retention too.
4. If you guys are still concerned it is better to give the doc a call, in the worst case it could be a sign of preclampsia (high blood presure)

I hope everything is fine. Good luck

A certain amount of edema is normal during pregnancy. However, call your midwife or doctor if you notice swelling in her face or puffiness around her eyes. It could be a sign of preeclampsia, a serious condition. Also call your caregiver if you notice that one leg or hand is significantly more swollen than the other, especially if she has any pain or tenderness in her calf or thigh.

I suggest she drinks plenty of water and refrain from eating any junk food containing salt, or just junk food in general.

Swelling can be a sign of more serious conditions so be sure to get in touch with her doctor. Some things you can do at home include, resting her hands on an elevated surface. Massaging them with oil. Supplement diet with garlic, raw onions, apples, and red grapes or grape juice.

Low sodium intake and drink plenty of water. If the swelling gets too bad she needs to see her doctor. There could be blood pressure complications.

Watch sodium intake, drink lots of water, and relax. The heat can also cause alot of swelling which usually does not go down until the baby (or in your case babies :)) are born.

Sudden swelling can be a sign of preeclampsia. It would be best for her to give her health care provider a call and let him or her know that she's having swelling.

Her doctor should have her on a special diet due to the pregnancy. Part of the diet does include reduced sodium levels, but I would still strongly suggest seeking a professional medical provider to ensure the diet is healthy for the mother and babies.

no more salt! and make sure its a healthy swelling not too much which is preeclampsia...At the end my feet were so swollen I couldnt wear socks, But the doctor told me I was ok...
Also tell her to keep her feet up so her feet wont get so swollen,
I guess that goes for her hands when swollen too!

GOOD LUCK! DADDY TO BE!!!

This may be a sign of a serious condition called, among other things,pre-eclampsia. It is more common in twins. She needs to be seen immediatly.by her doctor or clinic where she will need to have blood pressure checked and probably will need further testing.Do Not Delay!

She should probably call her doctor and let him or her know. They always check my swelling. It could just be that she is using them to much and needs to relax. It is better to call and be safe than sorry.
