Absolutely......NOT! There is no reason on earth to subject a child to that.

First of all Titanic is rated PG-13 so i wouldn't let kids under 13 watch it and second of all Brokeback is rated R, so of course that's a big NO for them as well. Once they are a lot older... yes i would let them watch both movies, I've seen both movies and absolutely loved them..... This is the real world, yes they are gay people and i see nothing wrong with that, i will not lie to my kids and pretend it doesn't happen, if they are the right age, they can watch anything they want.......

1. I certainly wouldn't let a 6 or 7 year old watch Titanic. Far too distressing.
2. Titanic was PG-13, BB Mt. is R.
The sex scene in Titanic showed no actual sex, only implied it through steamy windows and a hand.
These are not comparable movies.
How about...Last Tango In Paris. Great movie, only straight sex, no gay sex! I wonder if you'd let your 6 or 7 year old kid see that...
Added: Bad Liberal has another good suggestion: Monster's Ball. That's even more comparable. Another great movie too. And hell no, I wouldn't let any 7 year old see it!

OMG...Just when I think you cant get any worse, you do. And don't think I'm stalking you like you said about Liberal...don't flatter yourself, hun.
You'd let your 6 or 7 year old son watch any movie *hetero or homo* with a sex scene?! God, I hope that's just a plea for attention. I wouldn't let any kids I had watch Titanic or Brokeback until they were at least 12 or 13 and old enough to understand love and or sex

Is this a serious quesion? Why were movie ratings created? Any type of sexual content is NOT appropriate for young children.
My son is 13 and he not seen Titanic far less Brokeback Mountain. Kids have a fertile enough imagination...they don't need our help feeding nudity to them.
A few suggestions to occupy your time with your family - bike riding, hikes, reading books, a game of Monopoly. Am I the only prude left?

You should try not to look so easily rattled, it makes you look neurotic and paranoid...
The certification of films relates not only to WHETHER or not they have sex scenes but also the EXTENT of those sex scenes. The "sex" scenes in Titanic are not comparable with those in Brokeback Mountain, but they ARE comparable with those in Monster's Ball. Would you let your neice and nefews watch Monster's Ball? I would let my children (at that age) watch neither.

i read your other question..and i didn't get a chance to comment on it..but this one has come to my attention and so i feel that i have to comment on this one...my daughter is 10 1/2 and she has seen titanic but if at the age of 6 she wanted to see the answer would be NO, whether it is a boy/girl,girl/girl or boy/boy love scene ..no i wouldn't let her see it...but now that she is 10 1/2 she is able to watch it ..i haven't been able to see Brokeback Mt. yet but after my review if it is done in the same context as Titanic then i wouldn't see why she couldn't see it, she has seen movies that have depicted gay and lesbian relationships ( am not talking about porn).....what i believe bothers you is that it is two males and you cant handle it...which brings me back to your previous question/comment..it is well known that Brokeback Mt. is a love story about two MALES ...so why rent it if you it is obvious there will be a love scene?

Well, the sex scene in BM is really the first of its kind in mainstream movies, so its understandable that its a confusing issue for those with children. Throughout history, there have been so many other reasons for reservations (race, religion etc). In each case, it highlighted the issue and it became not as big a deal. So my advice - wait 20 years and then show them :)

I'M SORRY FOR THE WAY I THINK, gay people! for real...i don't like how i think about stuff like that...and i've been trying to change and be more open to things like that, but its really hard!
