I grew up on a dairy farm in Vermont. It seemed like there was always something to do. I loved being with the animals and training them. I loved milking the cows and cropping the fields. I think that a farm is an ideal place to raise kids. It teaches them discipline without being too harsh. Growing up on a farm was definitely a great experience,

My father grew up on a dairy farm in central Michigan which now is owned by My uncle, We would frequently go there for visits on holidays and such, We loved it, We (My brothers and I) grew up in the suburbs of the big city so it was a treat and joy to spend time there. I have many memories of playing in the barns, trying to catch barn cats, climbing the silos and corn cribs, and learning to drive my grandfathers old tractor. When my grandmother was alive we would enjoy her homemade country cooking and nothing is more charming than listening to the "old folk" tell stories of how life used to be....We never watched T.V. or played video games etc. while we were there. There was too much to do outside even in the colder weather, I think a lot of people don't quite understand how enriching life on a farm can be.....Thank you for posting your question It reminded me of many happy times in my childhood....

I enjoyed the farm, the outdoors, the horses, even the cows, but I hated the endless hours of work. I wasn't lazy, but the work went on forever, and took priority over my schoolwork. I grew up feeling like there weren't enough hours in the day!

Grew up there and loved it so much I'm still doing it today! Have horses, chickens, big dogs, couple barn cats, and wide open spaces. Most important...... peace and quiet :~)
