yeah, I had one find a job for me as a receptionist at a large company. I had never done that kind of work before, but I did have basic computer skills and a high school diploma. Give them a try, I'm sure they'll find you something.

Yes - but if you don't have experience then you'll probably get placed in an administrative role (ie. filing papers, answering phones, stuffing envelopes). There's demand for that kind of work however - so you should be fine.
I've worked at a temp agency and in my current job I hire temps from an agency for various projects. I've had experience with Randstad http://www.randstad.com/holding/home/index.xml and Career Blazers at http://www.careerblazers.com/

Although they are employment agencies, most all require that you have some form of previous work experience. They are really handy in the sense that they have multiple companies that they work with and do all the leg work in helping you find a job.

True story--I was trying to get out of sales, and a temp agency I was working for had me working as a crew leader for data entry people. My booker called me one day and begged me to take a 2-week assignment typing some letters for a crazy PhD pharmacist who was running his own research company. He had already sent away two of her most experienced people in less than 2 hours each saying that they were idiots. I took the job, and it turned into the best job of my life, working as a research and regulatory assistant to the President of this small company. I worked for him for 9 years.

Yep! For most temp agencies you just need basic computer skills. They'll have you take an easy Word and Excel test.

yes, but like someone said, if they make you pay any fee upfront, dont do it. Apply to a couple. My husband went when he was laid off, and they said he had too much experience for any job there. Guess they are different
