The difference is about $60 so I'm told. How reliable would a used manifold be?

Who knows where a used one has been and how much rust and corrosion and stress has been put on it...a new manifold usually runs at least $200 anyway, so what's another $60? I advise use the new one. Exhaust manifold is always the hottest part and undergoes the worst heat stress imaginable, like 700 degrees while running. They rust and corrode quite easily. I say get the new one. That is what I would do for this part.
I have nothing against used parts, in fact you can save a lot of money sometimes this way, but for this particular part get NEW.

I would go with used for that much difference. The rest of your car is used also isn't it?

save yourself the extra expense and get a used one. they are every bit as reliable as a new one. i've only ever seen them crack two different ways. one is when there installed and torqued in the wrong sequence and the other was from excessive heat build up caused by a blocked catalytic converter .

you can use the old one if you take the car to a good welding shop you can have that one fixed and save you even more money DO NOT USE JB WELD it will not hold i have welded many of these and they are still holding so if you want to save money i would see about having that one fixed

I would go with the used one because it's been "seasoned". Meaning it's already been through the heat up and cool cycles and should do just fine.
