Because Bushie Baby with his unwarranted war in Iraq to satisfy a personal vendetta that had nothing to do with terrorism has helped to keep the country divided. If the troops were in Afghanistan where bin Laden and his cronies are/were, we would be aware of the fact that something was being done about the threat of terrorism. As it is, troops are dying in Iraq because President Chimp wanted Saddam Hussein out of power because he put a contract out on Daddy during the Gulf War. There were no terrorists there and the fool knew it. So, all the troops that have died there have died to satisfy that idiot's ego. Yet, Chimp said when he was running, "I'm a uniter, not a divider." Pigs will fly and we'll have bacon and ham in the treetops come morning before this country is united while that jerk is president.

For about a year and a half after 9/11, the nation was united, and politics really didn't matter. However, when Bush authorized the invasion of Iraq and we got drug into a long, drawn out insurgency instead of being greated as liberators, people here questioned the logic of going into Iraq when we still didn't complete the mission in Afghanistan. Osama bin Laden, the real mastermind behind 9/11, is still on the loose. Thousands of American lives were lost in Iraq. Shi'ites and Sunnis are about to trigger civil war. Meanwhile, more dangerous rogues in Iran and North Korea pose more of a threat to the world, yet we're still in a quagmire in Iraq.

The bottom-line answer to your question, Iraq divided us.

Politics have been ultra-divisive since the late 1980's, when republicans removed the 'Fairness doctrine" from it's bind on the media.
Prior to that point any broadcast that was one sided and partisan in it's views required that the station or newspaper give time to the opposite view for rebuttal.
The clever use of talk radio rants, in which opposing views were sought, and then hung up on, initiated the state which we are in now.
Prior to that time, a person who engaged in venomous and abusive political talk would have been put in their place by a reply from an intelligent and thoughtful partisan from the other side.

The country, as a whole, has been pretty much divided for a long time. Clinton didn't win with an OVERWHELMING majority, neither did either Bush. People are so partisan, it seems. That's what the media makes you think, anyway...For the most part, if you pay attention, citizens get along much better than the media would like you to believe. It's a lot of SPIN!

Because the Dems and their propagandists in the media have been waging a 5½ year war against all things Bush, with a small respite for a few weeks after 9/11.

They seem more interested in Dems regaining power than in national security or a safer world. And it shows.

Ignorance is bliss! Democrats spent their time & thoughts attacking President Bush & his policies. The Republicans
get caught up in defending our President & his policies.
We should both support our troops, hope the attempts to end terrorism will work, & pray our freedoms are keep safe.
We are one country with one President & one set of policies.
Constructive criticism is only useful if you can make a change. Support our nation as the United States & then vote your conscience during next election as Constitution intended..

Because things like msg boards and blogs tend to be used as tools to brainwash people and cause tension between parties. This is why none of you should pay attention to what others are saying in the boards and blogs, because many tend to bs 99% of the time.

Don't pay any attention and we'll be united once again. Just do your own research on your elected officials, read newspapers, read magazines, and listen to more than one news source. And you'll be able to form your own opinion---not from others who are trying to divide the US.

Because our 'decider' used the national tragedy of 9/11/01 as a pretext to invade a nation that had nothing whatsoever to do with the attacks made in NYC. Thus he has divided Americans who want to trust and believe their government, and those who wish to hold the government accountable for its actions.

Great Question. Because people are listening to the biased media and Hollywood and not turning to sources for the real facts. The Media is too busy with whatever their agenda is to report the facts.
