Other community fish. Good starter fish to go with platies are guppies, swordtails, tetras, mollies, etc. Make sure you know how big they get, and remember the rule about one inch of fish for every gallon of water. You don't want to overcrowd! And whoever that was who said goldfish, they are mistaken. Goldfish are COLD water fish and platies are tropical and require a heater. Besides, goldfish are very dirty anyway and can grow to 12 inches long!

Well, if ya want a community tank, pick about 5 mollies and maybe 2 gouramis. Then get a few cory cats to clean the tank, maybe 5 or 6, and then maybe a few barbs, tetras, or guppies.
I hope that helps. Good luck!!!!!!!

i would put one or two cory cats since they are very good at getting stray food left on the bottom, a small algae eater such as a siamese or a small pleco but it may grow too big after a little while...also any livebearers do great with other livebearers (mollys, guppys, swordtails)..you can get most any community fish such as small groups of tetras, danios, white clouds, and one of my favorite fish that does well in community tanks is a blue ram ciclid(even tho its a ciclid its very docile)..also i would try to put something over the breeder net so no fish jump in because its happened to me and they ate all the babies

And non-agressive community fish would be nice- 29 Gallons is a nice size- maybe a pleco, or some Cories to help keep it clean would be nice. Do you like schools of fish or a few larger specimens? I think your preferences will play a big part in what you choose.... some sail-fin mollies might be nice to have with the platties. Or even some guppies.... it really depends on what you like to look at.
