It could work under the following conditions: (1). Somebody pays for the education (people are frequently 250K in debt when they finish training. (2). Meaningful tort reform is accomplished. (3). Docs only work 40 hour weeks like anybody else and don't have to get up in the night. Bottom Line: If you want the "A" students getting up in the middle of the night to take care of you, expect to pay. The training is a seven to ten year grind and there are no easy patches or short-cuts. People want compassionate care, but treat health care providers like pizza delivery boys. There is a lot of burnout.

Great question! I wish everyone did get equal pay and yes there would absolutely be doctors. There are still some people left on the planet who get intense satisfaction from healing/helping others. There are people who are drawn to the medical field because they find it gratifying emotionally, and the financial benefits (6 figure salaries) are just a fringe benefit since they love doing what they do anyway. As for actors, singer and sports figures--I'm not so sure there would be many of them if they made a typical working wage of say 30 grand a year or so LOL.

I hope there would still be some teachers so folks like you would learn to structure a sentence. NO, I'm just kidding! It would be interesting to see what that wage would be! What if we all made the doctor's salary? Wow! I might go work at the gas station down the street!

This sounds pretty close to Marxism (by the way).

You'd only have people doing jobs for the "love of it" That's not such a bad thing, but everyone getting the same pay for unequal amounts of work is not fair either - we still have that problem anyway though. When's the last time you saw a CEO break a sweat that wasn't in a court room?

So essentially you're stating that all doctors are only in it for money.

I think with some doctors, that's the case, however I think there are some doctors who really like helping people, so I think while there might not be as many doctors, there still would be a significant amount of them.

I think, that all the years of hard work that these doctors go through, working there way up, they are in it for more than just the money, or stay in it because they are. I guess, by then its a profession, and they will be less likely to move on.
