what is the best way to clean a water filter on my heating unit humidfy (was thinking CLR or something) ty for ur help

I would just replace the filter with a new filter. Most filters are designed to be replaceable. If you try to clean your filter with CLR or a similar product, it may look clean but the filter area may still be clogged and the filter not function properly.

I honestly is best just to get a new one. The filter traps the smallest of particles and they are extremely hard to get out.
I know my mother was going through them like crazy for awhile because there was a leak in the well and sand was coming through and plugging up the filter. But she had to put a new one in each time.
