Tampons are absorbent wads of material, as such they absorb fluids including discharge that not only helps the vagina keep itself clean but also help to keep the mucosa moist – mucus membrane like skin only without the top layers to protect it, so it is very delicate, the mucosa in your vagina and vulva is similar to that which is inside your nose, eyes and mouth.

As tampons absorb that discharge the vagina becomes dry and so vaginal splitting occurs, tiny splits in the wall of the vagina, tampons also rub against the delicate mucosa causing friction burns. If using commercial tampons this absorbency is even worse because of the synthetic materials used, commercial tampons also contain chemicals and bleach that can cause allergic reactions and irritation of the mucosa.

If your period is light and you use a tampon that is too absorbent it will remove more of the moister from your vagina and so mean not only more of the tampon will actually remain dry but also less moister to keep your vaginal walls moist to prevent friction and vaginal splitting.

I would recommend if you are going to use internal menstrual options you try menstrual cups, far healthier, cheaper, greener and more convenient, they are smooth and don't absorb fluids so they are not as painful to insert or remove, you can also get a free sample of Instead softcups from their web site or a money back guarantee from bell-shaped cup brands.

It was probably too dry. If you take one out and it's not ready it will be difficult to take out and hurt. Make sure it's "full" by gently tugging on the string and if it doesn't move leave it in awhile longer. I would not give up on tampons yet...I do not use anything but them and would rather lay at home in bed all day than go out of the house wearing a diaper. Try Tampax regular with cardboard applicators...they are a slim designed tampon...not round and bulky like playtex or tampax pearl.

It could have been that it was not properly inserted or you may have used one that did not coinside with your period flow. The larger the tampon the more potentialfor drying the vaginal walls and this can cause pain when removing it. Try a smaller tampon or just go back to using pads. If you still have pain see your Dr. to make sure it is nothing else.

That could be. Use a regular tampon, not a super one. The tampons are so absorbent you might have been too dry. Read the directions on how to put them in. The first time I wore one I didn't put it in properly.

it may have hurt b/c it was dry.
somtetimes, if i put in a tampon and it wasn't a very heavy day and i pulled it out it would hurt b/c it was dry cotton coming out. i would give it another shot, but use a panty liner until your in full period mode, then use a tampon.

You probably didn't have it in the right place or your period was not heavy enough to make insertion easier. I would not recommend wearing tampons because they can lead to toxic shock syndrome. research this on the internet and then rethink about wearing tampons.

You were were probably just tense. Try to relax your muscle down there next time and it should be ok. My 1st time, it hurt sooo bad cause it wasnt in far enough. It'll take some getting used to- try again.

its because your not used to it. when you put it in or pull it out your vaginal muscles contract causing the muscles to hold on to the tampon, so you practicly fighting your p*ussy for the tampon.
Just relax take a deep breath the same time you take it out, that will help at least till you get used to it.

sure use them they are better than the diapers

It could either be because it was your first time using one, or it could be because it wasnt full enough..Because if it's not full enough it wont be easy to get out because it expands.
