you can try greasing the hinges or making sure that the springs are tight enough. Sometimes when they install garage doors they don't make sure that the springs are tight enough.

Lube all the hinges and rollers with a silicone spray ( this will last longer than WD-40). There is also a grease made just for door openers that you should put on the gears that are inside the opener case. Propbably get it at Home Depot or hardware store. Don't use regular grease as it will get too stiff when it gets cold.

I assume you are talking about a door with an electric opener. If your garage is under the house, the noise will telegraph into the living area. I had that problem and mounted the opener using some very heavy rubber insulators. I got mine at an autoparts store. They were originally designed for hanging mufflers and tail pipes. Works Great.

check screws of the door, it shouldn't be loose. Nylon rollers are quieter a but metal ones are more durable. If you have a sectional door, the hinges that hold the sections together can become worn and will also have to be replaced. You can lubricate them with silicon lubricant to make them last longer. If the springs are squeaky, apply some lubricant there as well.

One way to quite the door is to change the rollers from metal to poly urethane

only way to quiet it is to put foam or soundproof material around the motor area, yet not interfere with the chain or pulleys
