Most manifestations of racism come from fear, anger, frustration or envy, pretty much the gamut of the Seven Deadly Sins.
The world is a strange and dangerous place to bigots, with the protection of Mum & Dad no longer protecting them like an umbrella. On their own, they see strange people, different skin colours, different religions, foreign languages, different sexualities, and it frightens them.
And what we are afraid of, we hate.
Anger and frustration, sometimes, when a man or woman finds herself being passed over for promotion at work, for instance, or can't get a job, and they are increasingly feeling that they've been placed on the shelf. Sometimes, they come to believe that all of the good jobs are being given to foreigners and that they, locals and natives, are being sidelined by the companies who ought to be giving local jobs to local people.
Envy is also common: hard to not be envious of someone driving a flash car, if you're a pedestrian on the dole.
The worst kind of bigot, though, doesn't actually have any of these emotions. They're the leaders, the speechmakers. These are the sort of bigots who don't actually go out and throw the bricks through windows, or paint the swastikas on gravestones.
No, these are the ones who are in it for the money, and for the power. They are the kind of bigot who live to raise the rabble, fan the flames of hatred, just because they get rich from all the attention and the money they get from "party donations" from the rabid dogs they incite.
Racism, in itself, has no point, no meaning. It's when someone comes along and stirs the pot just so he can climb onto a soapbox and make a grab for money and power that bigotry's truest evil shows itself.

Misunderstanding, insecurity, fear, the way they were raised by intolerant parents, ignorant parents and society. It IS a Waste of time. Life is too short to focus on negatives. Can you imagine a society where everyone loved each other no matter what? That's what will happen when (pardon me) when Jesus returns and there will be a new heaven and new earth. It will be just as God planned it. Just look forward to that day. We, as humans, created all this crap, and you just be you and the way you are, and SPREAD IT AROUND!

We are operating in the mode of ignorance. With ignorance, each strive to survive a very competitive world. Being rude is one of the many ploys to put down their enemies and enhance their chances of survivability.

I dont think anyone can make you understand. I dont think there is even a true explaination for any of it. It is just ignorance, closed mindedness and stupidity that lets these attitudes continue on and I dont see a change unfortunately.

The people that do those thing are very sad people that lack self-respect and self worth. This makes them angry and hurt and they alleviate that frustration by trying to belittle others to attempt to raise themselves above them, which is just a sad and sorry delusion.

i don't understand myself. Racism is a really terrible thing. I don't understand how people can be so ignorant and closed minded. Who cares where a person came from or what their skin color...? really who cares!

Some people are insecure. Others feel threatened by what is very different from themself. It boosts their poor self esteem to make fun of others.
