There is no easy way. I've never tried the nicotine gum or patches so maybe I can't answer this question, but I've quit cold turkey for almost 3 weeks (tomorrow is officially 3 weeks). I think it's still a mental thing. I'm trying to stay strong and quit my urges with other thoughts and trying to keep active....good luck.
oh, take it one day at a time...one hour at a time.

Well I would definately say go cold turkey. I quit smoking 8 weeks ago this way and it has definately been the best way. I have attempted before on several occasions using different nicotine replacement therapies and as soon as I stopped them, I started smoking again. Also, this time, I did not tell anyone I quit so they wouldn't keep talking about cigarettes to me and remind me that I have just quit. Has worked wonders, and always remember that its mind over matter, you need to accept that smoking is not part of your life any more and is no longer controlling you physically, mentally and financially. Worked for me! Good luck, and believe me, if I can do it, anyone can!

Dying is probably the easiest, but not the healthiest. Cold turkey (with the patch or the gum for a few days) will work, but difficult. I am at a year this month nicotine free. I used the patch for a week, but was getting too much nicotine. Weaned off that to the gum (2 pieces a day, not 8!) for a week. Then nothing.

There is not an easy way...hypnosis doesn't work for me, and the patch is a waste of time, but the gum has worked off and on, and they do have a hot line you can call 1-800-784-8669, 24/7. They are helpful. You could always look into a local Hospital, we have a hospital out here that will buy you the gum, or patch or whatever will help you to succeed, I wish you the best, the main thing is that you try.
Good Health.

I started using the patches until I realised I was putting in my body one of the elements I wanted to be rid of. I done the dreaded thing and went" cold turkey". I had been smoking for years and if I had known how easy it would be I would have stopped a long time before that. The overwhelming sense of achievement is something I cant describe. Please carry on with the plan to stop smoking.... you may be surprised at yourself and your will-power, I wish you all the best and I hope you find the way that suits you.

Best thing to do is seek help from your nurse, she will have been on loads of courses and can use what you say in helping you stop - bit of positive reverse psychology - works on my patients - have helped about 12 people quit so far an the best thing is you reap the rewards. If ya live in Scotland this will help cause ya can't smoke in doors so when ya socialising you won't be able to smoke - there is loads of help out there you just need to find what is right for you

Hope all goes well for ya

Take the cigarette out of your mouth and put it down, never put one in your mouth again and you've stopped!!

Read Dr Alan Carrs Easy Way to Stop Smoking - it really works and it really is easy!! I stopped 18 months ago (i was 40 a day!) and i've never looked back, no cravings just a much bigger bank balance at the end of the month!!

Good luck!

YOU DON'T NEED WILLPOWER, OR PATCHES OR GUM, or hypnosis, or a labotomy!

The only thing to do is get Alan Carr's book 'The easyway to stop smoking'. He even says to keep smoking throughout reading the book. He explains that smoking is a con and we are brainwashed to believe that you need tons of willpower to give up. We sleep for 8 hours a night. Do your *** cravings wake you up every 20 minutes? No? Exactly, we don't even feel it. It is all in the mind and nicotine clears out of your system in 3 weeks. Get the book. I read one chapter and gave up for 6 months!

The Easiest?
Just decide a day and stop on that Day. Just stop and don't smoke again.
Also don't feel that you have to 'give up' giving up if you find yourself having the odd one or two a week in the first few months.
It worked for me....
