The observatory was called Top of the World, it was in the north tower I believe, the one with the antenna. I visited there once, I was just wondering if anyone died that worked there. Not sure what time it opened that morning, but if it was 9, I'd imagine that anyone that was there did not survive since it was so high up and the north tower was the first to be hit.

I've often wondered the same thing. I visited the Trade Center observatory 4 weeks prior to 9/11. I still have an eerie feeling about this trip because it was a beautiful Tuesday morning just like 9/11. I remember some of the people who were working up there and I've always wondered if they survived 9/11. The observatory was actually in 2 WTC (the south tower), which was the second one hit. One of the stairways in that building was left intact since the second plane hit the building off center, so it's possible that people from the observatory made it out. No tourists would have been up there though, because the observatory didn't open until 9:30.
