Ford is often quoted as saying "History is bunk." The real quote, according to Bartlett's Quotations, is: "History is more or less bunk. It's tradition. We don't want tradition. We want to live in the present and the only history that is worth a tinker's damn is the history we made today." Ford made the statement in a May 25th, 1916 interview with the Chicago Tribune. Ford wasn't talking AT ALL about history being somehow inaccurate (written by the victors). What he meant was that it doesn't really matter one way or the other anyway. Its the here and now that counts.

"History is written by the victors" - unknown, at least by me.
History is always told by the people that win (whether the conflict is military, economic, social, whatever). The loosers are either dead, or not listened to. Therefore, all history is written from the point of view of the winners. There is also the fact that history is written by humans, and humans are incapable of being truly objective. We all put our own slant on things.

I say this so much to my boyfriend. She means she really loves you to the point that it physically hurts... i usually say this when we have an argument too - when i say it, i mean i love him so much it literally hurts (the place where you get butterflies) haha - just believe in what she tells you because you're hurting her by being angry at her and potentially accusing her of lying; therefore destroying your trust as a couple

If he did he probably meant that it reminded him too much of something he'd rather not admit to or that; at the time, what he knew to be the truth was a little too flowery and wide of the mark of what actually - as far as he knew - happened.
