why are certain people labeled and not others?

What I want to know is when white people have kids that are bad like these brats on shows like supernanny why is it ok and they are doing everything they can to help the child and need help with them. Why when black people's kids are bad they are ghetto or they need child protective services called on them or they will be thugs and hoodlums. You rarely hear about black kids shooting up schools or killing their own parents. So really whose worse?

First of all i am asking because I am black and regardless there are always stereotypes against us and if you have never seen it then don't say anything. When I go around caucasian people and they see I can talk with sense the question they ask is where are you from. When they probably looked at me and made an assumption before I open my mouth. People let's not be blind. I am not a racist but I'll be damned if it does not still exist. Sad to say it does and I am targeted by it often in the south. After Katrina we all look a little more ignorant.

To Joe B and whomever else said black people commit murder and all that. What do white people do? On to catch a predator what was the dominant race. Who are mainly snatching kids? Who do you mainly see naked on every other channel except BET? Who are mainly serial killers. Alright then shut up. Who makes all these teen movies and dumb reality shows? Who licks their dogs in the mouth. Who founded playboy? Who is the president? Who got their you know what sucked in office by another you know what?

LOL!!! I'll agree on the supernanny show, I think I saw only 1 black family out of all of those kinda shows.. supernanny, nanny911, lol! its sorta like what Kanye West said... during Hurricane Katrina when you saw black folks looking for food and water they were looters stealing (although I'm not going to trip, some were stealing sneakers and tv sets) but when a white couple took food from the store, they were simply "trying to stay alive" its a double standard, always has been and probably always will be......

It's around from the old days. People are so ignorant and intolerant.

I'm a white kid, but I believe in civil rights, especially since 50% of my friends are black, and 25% are Vietnamese. I have only seen one or two black pedophiles on the news for every 20 or 30 white pedophiles. Only one black person for every 100 school shootings. It's sad, really.

You must remember that the people who go on these shows contact the tv company and ask to go on them. Maybe black families dont like to go on them. There are bad kids all over the world of all all colours and creeds. Dont believe too much of what you see as statistics on tv or in the news and magazines. Small groups of people, both black and white blow everything out of proportion to make a name for themselves. Live a decent life and treat others as you would be treated yourself and dont listen to this nonsense. In uk I can assure you that the white people who are parents of these"brats" are looked down on and despised-it is not ok to bring your children up badly whoever and wherever you are. These shows can benefit everyone with parenting tips and give people new ideas and new hope if they are taken in context. Just pick out the good stuff from them. Kids behaving like this are not good and it is not ok whatever their colour. Kids need a good example and life is complicated. Parents often need help and not everyone has extended family to lend them a hand or give them tips. It can be good for an outsider to come in and see it as it is. There are white ghettos too. Here, we call them slums and Ive seen a lot of them in the UK. Theyare full of white kids. We have Social Services/child protection and lots of parents need their help and are watched over by them as their childrn are considered at risk. Deprivation, abuse, poverty, etc are worldwide problems which have no barriers to colour or religion.

I don't know the answer to your question, but i gotta tell you- those white kids on supernany are TERRIBLE! I saw one episode when this little white kid slapped his momma!
My mother would have shot me if i even raised my hand to her.

I think the labeling comes from what the kids do-cuz white kids and black kids do totally different things when they act up. Like when black kids go to a movie theatre and talk during the whole movie-that is ghetto. But going back to what you mentioned, I'd much rather have a bad child that talked during a movie than a child that went to school and killed everybody then came home like it was just normal day.

Neither they are both in need of parenting. Most times when a child is out of hand(black or white or yellow or whatever)it is from lack of attention by the parent or parents if they are still together. There are some instances when it isn't the parents fault but most of the time it is the child lashing out for attention.

What you have done here is generalized. Kida of all races have behavioral problems. Don't base all of your information from a TV show. What you need to do is get some education in the area of child behavior or psychology. Also, a sociology course couldn't hurt either. Maybe a social problems course.

it makes the group that is pointing it's finger feel better about them selves. you'll never hear any specific group agree with how bad their kids are because it would then be a reflection on their bad parenting.
