I have that option when i play some of my pS2 games online, but nothing ever happens. WHat does it mean?

It means Local Area Network. It's used if you're going to network with your friends so you can all play together, or if you're using a cable modem with a LAN cable connector.

LAN stands for Local Area Network...it means that you are connected to other people with ps2s with WIRES coming out of the PS2 connected with a SWITCH...If you don't have any body connected, NOTHING WILL HAPPEN...If you unplug your phone from the wall does it do anything? Same thing.
