I've been in the job for about 3 months. I'm suppose to be a writer/editor, but I have virtually no work to do. I spend hours and hours everyday just staring at the wall or pretending to read old newsletters and publications so that I can learn the business. I f*%king HATE HATE HATE this job. I'm reluctant to walk away though. It's just my second job out of college so I can't just jump into another job instantly.

Lots of people change vocations when they discover it just is not right for them. Do it while you are young, every year that passes makes it more difficult to make other choices. Try to imagine your own personal dream job, then see if you can do that or a closely related field. Believe me, if you hate your job, you are on borrowed time anyway...you will not excell or get promoted because your feelings will be apparent to your employer soon enough. This is the advice I gave to my children, some listened, some did not... The ones that did are happy and well adjusted, the ones that did not, well, are bitter and frustrated about their choices. Try to do something that makes you want to get up in the morning, something that allows you to use your natural aptitude, and you will become a happy old man...Good Luck, Kiddo.....

Maybe if you talk with your supervisor and tell him you need much more to do. You love busy and multitasking. If your boss doesn't work on a solution look around for another job. Just remember that life is to short, do what you love and the money will follow and so will happiness...maybe what you went to school for isn't what you love afterall...

I totally understand, I work at a job that I enjoy, but it is extremely slow right now, I literally stare at the wall all day...however, I used to work for a job that I was constantly busy and was always stressed, so just be thankful you're not overworked and underpaid! good luck!

How about looking for another job, while you work at this one? Then, when you find one give 2 weeks notice and make the move. Never burn bridges!! You may need them again, some day!!

Not long @ all. I would go on line and check with some temp agencies and look for work on your lunch hour. Give the company @ least one weeks notice and by all means hit the road.

Would you like to trade jobs? I am underpaid and have no work. At least you can spend your time doing something that makes money on the side.
