When my computer comes on, I get this:

Explorer has caused an error in (unknown)
Explorer will now close.

If you continue to experience problems, try restarting your computer.

I click OK then it reappears. I click OK again then I lose my toolbar and can't do a thing. At no stage do my desktop icons appear.

If I click internet explorer before I click ok on the error boxes, explorer opens after I have clicke don the error box the 2nd time. Something isn't right though - what do i do?

Click on "OK" when prompt until you lose your toolbar and try this:
1)Hold Ctrl+Alt and hit delete to bring up task manager.
2)File->New Task(Run..)
3)Type "Explorer"

It should bring back your toolbar and you should be back in business.

It could be caused by a number of things, the only certain way you can fix it is; to backup all your documents, format your hard disk and then re-install windows.

Don't do this unless you know what your doing though. search the internet for instructions first.
