Yes. If your joists are only spaning 12 ft and spaced 16" apart.

You are kind of stretching the span there for 2" X 8", even at 10', and 16" on center that's a long span. 2" X 8" is really only acceptable for a max of 8' span at 16" on center. You might want to re consider your choices. A 2" X 10" ledger fastened to the house with bolts should be fine.

Shoot ya. If you expect lots of weight, just space them closer with ample support.
Have you considered diagonal @ 45 degrees?
Nice effect. Just begin at center of the rectangle diagonally. Stagger joints.

Allow edges to overhang then saw a straight line along the rectangle.

you could use them as you plan, but its better to use a 2x12 as a floor joist to resist the weight and durability, as for the ledger 2x10 is fine....I.M. DRAFTING SERVICES......

that would fine if you use carriage bolts on each end and then every four foot. and then a double 2x8 beam in the center for support.
