I have been a step parent for several year and all has been fine up until the past year or so. I now feel my spouse always takes their side no matter what and puts their feeling ahead of mine...it was never this way before. It is like them hurting my feeling is fine... Any insight or am I being a baby?

I don't feel they should be able to hurt my feeling on purpose...or anyone elses. I don't care who's kids they are...nobody should do that...

It's a touchy situation. I'm in a similar situation but my boyfriend really tries hard to stay objective in a situation. It happens not only to step parents but to parents as well. I've had a friend tell me before that her husband takes the kids' side over hers and it really hurt her feelings. So, dont beat your self up. Try to communicate to him when your feelings are hurt and try to stay objective. If the kids are doing something that is not good for them, developmentaly or otherwise, try to tell him. If you are reasonable he'll probably see your point. If he sees that you mean well, he'll probably try to consider your feelings more.

remind your better half that you're a part of that family. There's several possibilities as to why this is happening. One, he/she's just not thinking. Two, the child's getting older and he/she needs a way to bond... i.e. siding with them for their affections.... or three, you've been wrong way too many times.... like the little boy who cries wolf...... figure out what it is and discuss it with your spouse when the children aren't around.... good luck

Have a serious talk about the situation .. needless to say it can have a effect on the children. If it continues .. seek family counseling.
