I am having trouble with this equation, could somebody help me?

Directions:

Solve the system of equations by using the inverse of the coefficient matrix.

3x + 5y = -2
3x + 8y = 4

Ok, this is what I have done to get an answer but it is wrong

3 5 1 0 ==> -1R1 + R2 ==> R2
3 8 0 1
--------------------------------------------------------------------------------

3 5 1 0 ==> -3R1 + 5R2 ==> R1
0 3 -1 1

--------------------------------------------------------------------------------

-9 0 -8 5 ==> -1/9R1 ==> R1
0 3 -1 1

--------------------------------------------------------------------------------

1 0 8/9 5/9
0 3 -1 1 ==> 1/3R2 ==> R2

-------------------------------------------------------------------------------

= 1 0 8/9 5/9
0 1 -1/3 1/3
-------------------------------------------------------------------------------

= 8/9 5/9 * -2 = 4/9
-1/3 1/3 4 2

Now I know this is not correct since I plugged my answers in and it did not work. somebody please help?

The mistake was in your scaling the first row by -1/9. The 5/9 should be -5/9.
